Dead Shell story and gameplay

The game is set after the apocalypse. You command a band of mercenaries sent to Plutonia, a human settlement on the planet Doom-4. A distress signal revealed that the outpost is under attack by cosmic monsters, and your job is to wipe every one of them out.

Combat is easy to learn but demands care. Tap an enemy’s marker to attack, and remember that every attack gives the enemy a chance to strike back. Random dungeons, enemies and progression

Levels are procedurally generated: before each one the game builds a fresh location with random enemies, so no two runs are alike. Because luck can make a run brutally hard, you can spend 10 credits to jump into a new location with new foes.

Every stage is split into rooms to search. You will fight enemies, check corpses for hidden items, open chests holding useful gear and collect ammunition. There are more than 50 enemy types, including zombies, aliens, mutants and rogue robots, and an arsenal of shotguns, lasers, grenades and plasma rifles to answer them.

Quests offer extra rewards on top of the main levels. Your mercenaries level up and improve their skills and equipment, and gathered resources let you craft and upgrade weapons and consumables. The retro pixel art uses a dark palette that sells the post-apocalyptic mood, backed by punchy gunfire, explosions and tense music. The game holds a 4.0 out of 5 rating on Google Play.
