Runaway Toad is a free-to-play arcade platformer developed by the Thai studio Shini Co. Inspired by the classic tale of The Princess and the Frog, the game faithfully recreates the story from the book and the animated series. However, the main plot differs slightly: in Runaway Toad, the main character is not a frog, but a toad. Thanks to these original changes, Runaway Toad offers captivating content. The story tells of a young princess living in a tower-like palace. A witch tells her that if she finds the swamp toads near the palace and kisses them, she can win the heart of her prince charming. In reality, the prince believes that one of these toads, once human, has transformed back into a toad and that a kiss from her will bring him back to life. The princess therefore sends her owl to hunt down these toads so that he can capture them and bring them to the prince. You play as one of these toads, resistant to these events. The game’s main character, the toad you control, doesn’t want to become human and longs to live freely in his toad form. He therefore has no choice but to run away!

In the game Runaway Toad, you must help this toad escape from the prince’s palace and return home. Your mission is to guide him through relatively difficult and obstacle-filled paths. These paths are wetlands and marshes, scattered with stones that form your course. You must progress by jumping from stone to stone. Along the way, you can eat different insects to earn points or special abilities. The further you advance in the game and the more points you earn, the more powerful and efficient toads you unlock. The entire Runaway Toad game is played with a single finger. The controls will be explained to you during your first game. To eat insects, simply swipe your finger towards them. To jump from stone to stone, hold your hand on the screen to control the energy needed for the jump. This energy is represented by a curved target that indicates your landing point. Release your finger before the target gets too high, or wait a little longer if your energy is low. This is a tricky and demanding part of the game. If you fail to land on the rocks and end up in the swamp, the owl will find you and take you back to the prince. Runaway Toad is a record-keeping game, as your progress is displayed after each defeat. The game even features a global leaderboard where players can compete to beat records.
