About Idle Wasteland and how it plays

You take control of a nameless hero trying to stay alive in a wasteland full of terrifying creatures: mutant wasps, giant crabs, huge vipers, deadly beetles, radioactive mosquitoes and ruthless rogue robots.

A drone guides you through a tutorial with text boxes. It runs a little long, but it covers almost everything you need to know.

Combat is simple. Your hero attacks automatically each time the yellow attack bar fills, and tapping the screen quickly makes it fill faster for more frequent hits. Above it sits a green mana bar, or biomagic bar, which starts full, drains as you cast spells and refills as you collect nuclear waste.

Skills, spells and missions

Your hero has five skills: Strength, Salvaging, Crafting, Biomagic and Hunter. Each one levels up with XP. Tapping scrap along your path earns Salvaging XP, while crafting items such as nuts and bolts earns Crafting XP. Higher skill levels make your hero tougher against the mutants.

Spells are varied, and some boost attack speed by up to 15% and attack damage by up to 10%. Defeated enemies drop rewards like cash and boosters, which you spend on weapons, gear and hero upgrades.

Missions add goals such as killing a set number of creatures or casting a set number of spells. The game is generous with rewards and gives you many ways to build your hero. It has passed 500,000 downloads on Google Play with a 4.2 out of 5 rating.
