About European War 5: Empire and How It Plays

European War 5: Empire stands apart from other games in the series, such as European War 4: Napoleon, European War 6: 1804 and European War 6: 1914, in both structure and gameplay design. It is a turn-based strategy game where tactics come first, covering more than 2,000 years of warfare.

You command armies on a large world map filled with cities, capitals, ports and strategic regions. Famous historical generals, each with their own skills, lead your forces, and hundreds of unit types with distinct abilities are available. Upgrading generals and troops strengthens your army, while developing cities produces resources and builds up your empire’s infrastructure.

Diplomacy matters too: you can negotiate, form alliances and deal with other civilizations, and trading with merchants helps fuel your expansion.

Game Modes and Content

The game is built around three main modes:

• Empire Mode: build and grow an independent empire across 6 different generations. The bigger you get, the more missions you receive, including conquering neighboring lands, taking over their cities and crushing enemies who raise armies against your kingdom.
• Battle Mode (Campaign): focused on strategic combat, with over 150 real historical battles recreated for you to lead as different generals.
• World Conquest: a large-scale mission to conquer the world across 6 eras, pushing your borders and taking on the leaders of other nations with your army.

Campaigns stretch from the medieval period to the modern era, giving plenty of variety in armies and tactics.
