Dead by Daylight first launched on PC through Steam in 2016, then reached PS4 and Xbox One a year later. A rebuilt version for handheld and mobile devices entered testing in 2019, and the final release arrived at the end of that year. Every match is played online with five people: four Survivors on one team and a single Killer. Before the round starts you choose your role and pick a character from dozens available on each side.

Survivors must repair power generators and find special items to open an escape route. The Killer has to track them down, bring them down and carry them to the Sacrificial Hook. Because the Killer is a real player, every chase feels unpredictable.

Survival is about staying calm. Running and making noise gives away your position, so move slowly, hide and finish tasks as quietly as you can. As the Killer, manage each hunt carefully and pick off your prey one by one.

Characters, maps and content

Each side has dozens of characters with unique looks and abilities, plus deep customization with outfits, add-on items and individual skills. Matches take place across varied, tense maps. Survivors play in third person, while the Killer sees everything in first person.

Teamwork matters: rescue hooked teammates, split generator repairs and push objectives forward together. Detailed 3D visuals close to console quality and an intense soundtrack complete the atmosphere.
